You Control 1.5 Released!

You Software has announced the immediate availability of version 1.5 of You Control. This update offers a variety of new features and enhancements to a number of the modules. Among the highlights are:

  • Improved file information and handling in the File System module
  • Integration between the Address Book module and Google Maps
  • Added an uptime monitor to the CPU Monitor module
  • Enhanced iTunes module for better display when listening to tracks from internet radio stations and shared music
  • And approximately two dozen other enhancements and fixes to a variety of modules

We recommend that all You Control users running Mac OS X 10.4 and higher update to this version.

  • Improved compatibility with latest Leopard (10.5) seeds
  • Menu Bar Right positioning should work correctly again
  • Fixed a situation in which the hot key menu would not display in certain multi-monitor situations.

  • New Feature – Added File Info for applications
  • New Feature – File Info now displays the file’s Kind
  • New Feature – Added “Show in Finder” command
  • Fixed a bug that could cause file type and creator information to be wrong on Intel Macs
  • CPU Monitor:

  • New Feature: Added an uptime monitor in the list of CPU information
  • Address Book:

  • New Feature – Added an option for mapping addresses using Google Maps
  • News Reader:

  • Feed URLs copied from Safari are now handled correctly when adding new feeds.
  • Pasteboard:

  • Added fix for issue in which pasteboard would some times paste the incorrect entry
  • Calendar:

  • Added better error handling for situations in which calendars have events with invalid data
  • Clock:

  • Fixed issue which would cause Clock module to not load on the latest Leopard (10.5) seed
  • iTunes:

  • New Feature: Toggle Shuffle command – Added a menu item to toggle the shuffle mode on the current playlist. You can also set a hot key for this (like any other command)
  • New Feature: Ticker Duration – You can now specify for how long the ticker will display in the menu bar (including always on)
  • Improved Podcast support – Podcasts are now in their own submenu instead of in the Playlists menu
  • Improved Radio Station support – Streamed stations now display current track and overlay information for each new track (assuming the station provides the information)
  • Support for music libraries stored in custom locations
  • Revised iTunes monitoring for faster and more accurate track information
  • Better information now provided for non-local tracks (i.e. tracks from iPods, streamed Internet radio stations, or tracks shared from another computer)
  • Improved handling on non-Latin characters
  • Playing a track from a playlist will now play the track from within the playlist
  • Added Disc Number to the track information displayed
  • Fixed a bug preventing playback of albums and playlists with non-Latin characters.
  • Changed logic so the overlay and ticker will reappear when resuming the same track.
  • Fixed a bug preventing playing tracks on non-Engish versions of iTunes
  • Compatibility with changes introduced in iTunes 7.1 – 7.3
  • Added hidden preference for turning off library parsing (can be helpful for very large libraries)
